Most people associate Audiences Unlimited with our musical performances for seniors living in residential communities. But did you know that AUI also provides opportunities for these same seniors to experience cultural events within the community?
They’re called “In-Community Programs,” and thanks to our relationships with community partners, hundreds of area seniors can enjoy cultural excursions to places such as the Philharmonic, Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Purdue Fort Wayne, The Embassy Theatre for Festival of Trees, and the Foellinger Botanical Gardens—all at no cost to them.
Last fiscal year alone, thanks to the generosity of our community partners, AUI provided 39 In Community Programs for 624 people from our partner facilities. The cash value of trips to the Festival of Trees last year alone was $1,250. But the joy these trips create exceeds any monetary value.
“The value of these visits is priceless,” said Nancy Louraine, AUI’s interim executive director. “For many of these seniors, these visits provide the opportunity to once again enjoy the experiences they once attended before moving into a long-term care facility.”
Our partners work hard to accommodate any health and physical conditions, making sure that all residents who wish to attend these events can do so, regardless of income or any physical limitations. We’re so grateful to our community partners for creating these life-enriching experiences for our seniors. Their generosity touches so many lives, and we’re privileged to be part of it!
