Kent Roe, longtime musician for Audiences Unlimited, lived a life shaped by music and shared through generosity. From the moment he picked up a banjo at age 16, Kent devoted himself to mastering the instrument—not for recognition, but for the joy it brought him and others.
Whether performing with Shady Grove Steam & Grass or the Roanoke Rounders, playing at bluegrass festivals across Indiana, or jamming with fellow musicians, Kent carried a deep love for the music and the community around it.
That same spirit defined Kent’s time with Audiences Unlimited. In senior living communities throughout our region, Kent’s banjo became a bridge—sparking smiles, memories, and moments of connection for audiences who needed them most. He believed music was meant to be shared, and he lived that belief by teaching others to play and welcoming new musicians into the bluegrass family through the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association.
Kent passed away on November 25, 2025 but his music continues to echo in the lives he touched. We are grateful for the gift of his talent, his kindness, and the joy he so freely gave. His legacy lives on in every note played, every song remembered, and every heart lifted by the music he loved.
