By Alyssa Semak, Audiences Unlimited Manager

The start of a new year invites both renewal and reflection—a chance to look ahead while looking back to what has brought us to this moment. As we reflect on what 2025 brought to Audiences Unlimited, including a new home at the Embassy Theatre and new leadership, I am excited by the possibilities that lie ahead.

Continuing LADA and Councils on Aging Programming

First, I am happy to announce that we will be continuing our My Expressions programming at LIFE Adult Day Academy (LADA) this year for individuals with cognitive and intellectual disabilities. Made possible through the generous support of the AWS Foundation, this program offers students the opportunity to participate in music and theatre classes, culminating in a student performance at the Embassy Theatre.

I am also pleased to share that, thanks to funding from the Olive B. Cole Foundation, we will continue to provide programming to Councils on Aging and care facilities across DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties. These partnerships allow us to extend meaningful arts experiences to individuals who might otherwise have limited access due to their location in rural communities.

Strengthening Community Connections

As we move into the new year, I look forward to strengthening relationships with our current partners and deepening our connections within the communities we serve. I am especially eager to explore AUE’s mission further and discover new ways to create cultural experiences that enrich the lives of people with limited access to the arts. This includes thoughtfully examining what “limited access” truly means and how we can continue to expand our reach.

Access to the arts should never depend on age, ability, or location. It is my hope that Audiences Unlimited will continue to build partnerships that break down barriers, foster inclusion, and bring the arts to communities that have historically been underserved.

Here’s to a new year filled with creativity, connection, and expanded access to the arts. Cheers to 2026!
